The Pool (Jacques Deray, 1969)
Sunglasses screwed on the tip of the nose and tanned neat, Alain Delon is lying on the floor, in a swimsuit, and in full sun, at the edge of a swimming pool. The silence that reigns is suddenly broken by a sound of diving. Splashed, he quickly removed his glasses. At the same time, Romy Schneider, all smiles, is discovered swimming breaststroke in a black two-room apartment. The opening scene of La Piscine is a reflection of this closed-door film: summer and sensual. Worship, she was featured in an ad for the Eau Sauvage perfume by Christian Dior.
Swimming Pool (François Ozon, 2003)
Difficult now to talk about the Pool without thinking of Swimming Pool. While the two films share (with one translation) the same title, they also share a summer sensuality (even sexuality). In Swimming Pool, it is a Ludivine Sagnier in bikini and long blonde hair sun who plays the role of object of desire against a Charlotte Rampling desiring. Almost in the camera, the film also turns to thriller passion. Ten years later, Ozon films another girl in a swimsuit and in the sun: Marine Vacht, who explodes sensuality in Young and Pretty, especially in a masturbation scene that his younger brother surprises with the crack of a door.
Bully (Larry Clark, 2001)
It’s also in Florida that Larry Clark puts his camera to shoot the violent Bully. Inspired by a news story, the film tells the story of a band of teens daily trainers punctuated by drugs, surfing, pals. One night, the group decides to kill a band member who has been martyring them for years (a “bully” is a little bully). A scenario that, in the hands of Larry Clark, makes sparks.
Death Boulevard (Quentin Tarantino, 2007)
The thermometer explodes in this film-tribute to the Z series and the cascade films directed by Tarantino. Divided into two parts, Death Proof ( Deathproof ) follows every time a group of girls who crosses paths with a stuntman, incidentally berserk, played by Kurt Russell. Violent and sensual, the film is to be seen at least for the lap dance scene of Vanessa Ferlito wiggling in a dinner of the Down In Mexico Coasters.
Vicky, Christina, Barcelona (Woody Allen, 2008)
No lap dance or swimsuit here but a trio of over-excited actresses. Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Christina (Scarlett Johansson), two Americans, spend a summer under the Barcelona sun. They meet Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) and Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz). If Woody Allen falls a little in the clichés (sensual Latin, European artists …), the film is a sweetness to (re) see in summer, just like Midnight in Paris and To Rome With Love, which is also spend the summer.
The Unknown Lake (Alain Guiraudie, 2013)
Summer at the edge of a lake, men tan naked and drag in the thickets. But one night, one of them sees another man drowning his lover. Follows a passionate thriller and gay.
